Jack Craciun III:

What makes Cleveland great! Wrong question. What makes Cleveland and its people the greatest community on earth – in modern times Now I can answer that easily.
Well, let me begin by saying that I was blessed to be born into the second generation of an entrepreneurial immigrant family located on the near West Side of Cleveland (you know, The Old Neighborhood at 65th and Detroit Avenue ). To add to that grace, I have been able to work within, and study, nations, and their local markets, around the world freely. Consequently, I deal with an edge of knowledge, an earned knowing, of the truth about Cleveland and its people, which few can duplicate by first hand experience living in and studying US and foreign markets.
So here goes: The list of Greater Clevelander accomplishments shared with mankind throughout the last 200 years would easily cover each page of a weeks worth of ink issued by the New York Times, The Times “ London ” and the Beijing Ribao Daily. But, you can see it all, and keep it simple, by merely calling attention to the following: Let’s embrace the legacies that define us right-now and read a little between the lines about how in the world Cleveland is actually the Center of the Universe:
First of all, music is the only universal language throughout most of history, and Cleveland just happens to be the home of the number one “classical” music orchestra on earth, The Cleveland Orchestra (it took titans of industry and education to make that happen), and we are, without a doubt, the “Rock and Roll Capital of World”…there on 9th Street kissing Lake Erie is the 124 million dollar Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, and there on the edge of Cleveland’s Chinatown remains the number on concert club in the world, the Cleveland Agora.
Now lets add that Clevelanders gave birth to the first community foundation on earth, the Cleveland Foundation. And, we are home to two of the most important medical institutions on earth, the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital , and Metro takes a back seat to no one. And let’s remember, it was Reverend Redding who opened the first Halfway House here and another black Clevelander hung-up the first traffic light here too. And then there is the automobile and the worlds first airport control tower and air races (engineering and technology () were it Mates).
And when you run into the slightest doubt about Cleveland being the Center of the Universe and Ohio being the “Heart of It All,” gees- on-man, guess who gave the world SUPPERMAN!
So, Be Blessed Clevelanders, the people of the world are truly indebted to you singularly, and never forget that almost all of their education and economic generators and freedoms exist due to your enterprising spirit and its legacy.
